Electrical Distribution
OSU Energy Services maintains an electrical distribution system that contains more than 10.4 miles of underground, concrete-encased duct banks with approximately 160 cable vaults. Additionally, around 4.25 miles of overhead distribution lines distribute power to outlying University facilities. Both the underground and the overhead systems are comprised of 12,470 and 2,400 volt configurations.
OSU purchases electrical power from OG+E through substations located on OG+E's 138kV transmission grid, giving OSU the benefit of multiple sources to help assure a constant power source. As of January 2013, the greatest percentage of OSU's purchased electrical power is generated by wind.
