Rainwater Collection
Rainwater Collection
Reuse It
Rainwater collection is a sustainable and efficient way to manage water resources,
and we have implemented two collection sites to maximize its benefits.
At the first site in the Price Garden outside of the Student Union, rainwater is gathered
and stored in rainwater collection urns, where it can be accessed directly with a
hose for various uses, such as irrigation or cleaning. This simple yet effective system
reduces reliance on municipal water and makes use of naturally available resources.
At the second site, rainwater is collected from the roof of the Business Building
and directed into an underground cistern. This stored water is then pumped out using
solar-powered pumps to water the planters along the street in front of the building,
providing an eco-friendly and energy-efficient solution for water distribution. By
integrating solar technology, we ensure that the system operates sustainably, reducing
both our environmental footprint and utility costs. These rainwater collection efforts
contribute to our commitment to conservation and responsible water management.
