Surplus

Next auction: TBD

Public auctions of surplus material take place at Facilities Management Warehouse #2.  Viewing begins at 7am and auction starts at 8am.

Reuse of materials is even better than recycling. OSU Surplus has chairs, tables, desks, computers, research equipment and other electronic equipment, file cabinets, and much more! All of these items are available for use on campus and free to any state agency.

OSU employees can check out the Surplus warehouse on Thursdays from 1-3pm or by appointment (405-744-7648). Students are not permitted to check out surplus. If you are a student working for a department, you must be accompanied by a department representative, who will then sign for any items to be issued. Please be prepared to show your OSU ID, and provide departmental information for surplus issuance. In the event you will not be able to retrieve your items on the date of issuance, you may schedule a time and day to come pick them up or have a work order opened for FSS-Moves to deliver the items at a fee.

Surplus is located on Connell Avenue between Willis Street and Ridge Road. From Hall of Fame, go north on Willis, turn left before McElroy and there will be a series of metal warehouses on the right. Surplus items are located in “Facilities Management Warehouse #2.”

Items not retrieved from Surplus are sold at public auction every few months. The Surplus Warehouse will be closed the week of an auction to prepare.

OSU employees, who would like to be on a mailing list to receive a monthly list of available items, may email Kathie Parham  or download the "Monthly Surplus Listing" from the Asset Management webpage along with further information about OSU assets, surplus and auctions.

In the event of inclement weather the Surplus Auction will be rescheduled for a later date.

If you'd like to list items to be taken away from your department and placed into Surplus, go to the Asset Management webpage click on "Forms," and then click on "Disposal and Transfer" to download a spreadsheet. Surplus removal is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Looking to get rid of Non-University property?

Donate to a local charity or look for these end-of-year, collection programs:

  • Real Pokes Pass It On - A program of the OSU Chapter of Net Impact - Items are collected from campus residents at the end of the school year, stored over summer, and sold back to incoming students in August. Proceeds and unsold items are donated to charity. A pick-up service for large items on campus is sometimes provided.
  • Family & Graduate Student Housing Yard Sale - A program of the Res Life Family Resource Center, usually occurring in May of each year.
  • ATRS Textile Boxes - Look for large orange metal collection boxes during finals week for shoes, clothing and other textiles.
