POSITION TITLE: Student Service/Maintenance
JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist electricians in a wide variety of duties including but not limited to replacement of lamps
  • Replacement of lamps and tubes in university facilities
  • General electrical or construction related maintenance
  • This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and in excess of 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Assist electricians with other duties
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Past electrical experience a plus
  • Must be able to climb ladders/work at heights
  • Work in non-air conditioned or outdoor work environment

Safety requirements:

Geospatial Systems Student GIS Technician

DEPARTMENT: Geospatial Systems
POSITION TITLE:  Student GIS Technician
JOB DISCRIPTION: Assist GIS staff with feature data/attribute editing, researching data, evaluating feature data for accuracy, and general systems development.
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Applicant needs to be familiar with using ArcGIS for mapping and feature attribute editing tasks.
  • Must have an interest in applying GIS and other computer skills to assist full-time staff in the department’s efforts to develop the University’s Geographic Information System for tracking facilities assets including OSU’s utility systems.
  • Must have good communication skills, have an eye for detail, and demonstrate dependability.
  • Prefer an applicant majoring in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems, or in Civil Engineering.

JOB DESCRITION:

  • Encompass all aspects of ground and landscape installation including:  loading and unloading of landscape materials, installing drip irrigation,  pavers and hardscape materials installation, string trimming, hand watering of new plantings,  power blowing debris, planting, weeding, and picking up litter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral instruction
  • Must be able to work cooperatively on a team
  • Must be able to perform manual labor in various working conditions such as walking, lifting and exposure to inclement weather such as heat and humidity

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist the OSU Sustainability Coordinator with program development, project implementation, data collection, data entry, event planning, marketing, publicity, newsletter production, social media and website updates
  • Serve as connection to OSU student groups, Res Life, and campus departments
  • Prepare exhibits, conduct tours, and make presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills necessary to exchange accurate information in presentations and on projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of Excel, word processing, and desktop publishing programs
  • Marketing, publicity and social media experience

  • OSU Housing & Residential Life experience preferred

Job will include painting outside gas meters and valve boxes as well as cleaning fireplugs and assisting plumbers with projects.

Work is done in the Res-Life area of campus.
